How should I attach a ground wire to a cold water pipe?
I have an open wall right now with an exposed, ungrounded outlet and exposed plumbing. I want to attach a ground wire from the box to the cold water pipe so I’ll have at least one grounded outlet in the house. My main question is how to actually, physically attach the wire. Do I buy one of those clamps (they seem to be for thicker gauge wire)? Or can I solder it to the pipe? Can I just wrap it and tape it? Any detailed advice appreciated.
Tape no. Clamp it with metal pipe grounding clamp available at any home or hardware store.
