Throttle Bypass
I have a horizantal shaft engine and it has aknob were you can set it t the rabbit or turtle…?
You should know what i mean with the rabbit for fast and turtle for slow. Anyway is there a way to bypass that knob and hook-up a throttle cable to it? (it’s going on a go kart) i cant figure it out. Please if i can bypass this it will save me $200 on buying a new one. Thanks in advance!!!
This question reminded me of something funny. I had a good friend in college (decades ago) who had spent 2 years in India in the Peace Corps. They gave the people there small gasoline-powered farm tools, and they had the rabbit and turtle on the speed control, and my friend said it was very difficult to explain this to people who had never seen either a rabbit or turtle and had no idea what they were.
You need to come up with some kind of linkage to control this knob (actually the shaft that the knob goes on) with a cable. Maybe there’s a company that makes something like this as a conversion kit, or parts available for another kind of cart that will work for you. Look at the cable-controlled throttle on other carts, and you’ll see how they work. It’s really not that complicated.
