Connecting Rods
Im rebuilding an engine…if I installed a new crank connecting rods, and pistons, how do i balance it?
I have the block, but after I installed the internals would I be able to built the rest of the way with no problems, iv been hearing about balancing and what not, or should I just keep the stock internals? It will have a supercharger on it.
Without the proper equipment to do a professional balancing, you could weigh each piston and rod assembly on an accurate scale and make them all the same weight as the lightest one by removing material from the bottom of the rod boss. This alone will get you a better balanced engine than most OEM engines installed in the new cars.
For what it’s worth, I highly recommend forged pistons for a supercharged engine.
