People from every period of time were superstitious witch, most evil witch who would do them harm. They took everything and every step needed care to repel witches spells into their homes. The hope chest, also known as a dowry chest or blanket chest all the furniture in the house of newlyweds held household items like quilts, blankets and baby clothes. More importantly, these boxes required coverage as family heirlooms.
